Portfolio
Working in a design & development studio, I spend most of my time creating and researching innovative learning technologies. Using a combination of user experience design and learning experience design methods and techniques, I co-designed Diabetes Journey and Project PHoENIX with colleagues in the Advanced Learning Technologies Studio.
EmpatHear
EmpatHear was a web-based application designed to enhance therapeutic communication skills in nursing education. Powered by GAI, it simulates diverse patients that interact with learners simultaneously and provide real-time feedback.

Diabetes Journey
Diabetes Journey (DJ) was launched in 2020 and is currently undergoing a randomized controlled trial with funding support from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Adopting an innovative and balanced learning experience design approach, DJ was developed for adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) for learning how to better manage their T1D care. Specifically, the program incorporates gamification elements and highly interactive learning content, with a focus on tailoring to individual needs.

Project PHoENIX
Project PHoENIX (Participatory, Human-centered, Equitable, Neurodiverse, Inclusive, eXtended Reality) was launched in 2022 and is currently undergoing focus group sessions with funding support from the Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (CAN) at the University of Florida.
Focusing on researching and developing Extended Reality (XR) technologies to support autistic individuals, Project PHoENIX aims to help those transition from secondary education to adult life. The project seeks to engage autistic people in co-production of research that has relevance to their lives and to explore alternative research approaches that focus on the strengths, preferences, and lived experiences of autistic people.

C&C: A Virtual Reality Maze
Collaborative creativity (CC) seems to be the engine of our global economy and competitiveness. However, knowing how to assess this twenty-first century skill remains challenging due to its non-linear nature. In response to the increasing interest in assessing CC within immersive environments, I led the creation of a game-based virtual maze using Mozzila Hubs. The game is a role-playing exploration game consisting of three levels–leading you to the lost gold. It is designed as a team game that can be played by two players at a time.
There are three levels in the maze, with each level containing clues about where hidden treasure may be located. The players have to tell a short story using clues collected in each level and finish up by making a long story using the previously written short stories.
